Dodgers' Puig returns from hamstring injury

Rick Scuteri / USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers are receiving some additional firepower for their playoff push.

Outfielder Yasiel Puig has been reinstated from the disabled list in time for Saturday's contest with the San Diego Padres. He will play right field and bat sixth in manager Don Mattingly's lineup.

The Cuban has been out since Aug. 27 with a right hamstring injury, and encountered multiple setbacks while rehabbing the injury. He also had left hamstring issues early in the season.

Puig, who is hitting .256/.324/.440 with 11 homers and 38 RBIs in 77 games, will be auditioning for a spot on the Dodgers' postseason roster over the course of the weekend.
