Price's availability up in the air for Game 5

After throwing three innings in relief Monday at Globe Life Park, David Price seemed confident he'd be available out of the bullpen for Game 5 of the American League Division Series.

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons, however, doesn't seem all that inclined to use the veteran left-hander out of the bullpen in Wednesday's series finale against the Texas Rangers.

"I wouldn't necessarily count on it," Gibbons told reporters Tuesday. "He's not here to be abused. We'll see, but don't count on it."

Summoned from the bullpen with two outs in the fifth inning Monday, his team holding a 7-1 lead, Price stumbled in his first postseason relief outing since 2008. The 30-year-old allowed three runs on six hits in relief of R.A. Dickey before turning the ball over to right-hander Aaron Sanchez with two outs in the eighth.

Price's underwhelming appearance came four days after the five-time All-Star took the loss in the series opener, wherein he allowed five runs on five hits - including two homers - and a pair of walks in an eventual 5-3 loss.

Even with Price's availability up in the air, though, Gibbons remains confident after taking two straight games on the road.

"We all expect to win here," Gibbons said.
