Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias is day to day with a right hand contusion after being hit by a pitch in the third inning of Thursday's contest with the Kansas City Royals.
Iglesias squared up to bunt an Edinson Volquez pitch, which clipped a few fingers on his right hand. He dropped to the ground in pain and left under the guidance of team trainers. Fortunately for the Tigers, X-rays were negative.
The 25-year-old entered play hitting a respectable .302/.348/.372 with 44 runs scored and 23 RBIs.
