Win or lose, the Chicago Cubs will fly back home in style.

At team manager Joe Maddon's suggestion, the Cubs will board their overnight flight to Chicago after playing the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday night clad in pajamas.

"It works both ways," Maddon said on Sunday, according to ESPN's Kris Bryant.

"If you win it's even better, and if you've lost it's kind of like, 'let's put this behind us and move on.' I see it as a win-win-win. It's about keeping the group together. It's about having fun as a group."

And the team took this idea and ran with it. Some players even opted to arrive at Dodgers stadium on Sunday in their pajamas.

Hector Rondon sported a Superman onesie, infielder Starlin Castro went with a Mario Bros. theme, and, as for Fernando Rodney, he settled with a last-minute choice of stripes.

"I had to go shopping (in L.A.)," said Rodney. "They just told me about it yesterday."

While Justin Grimm found his shark onesie in Target after his online order came in a "girl's size," James Russell finally has the chance to wear the onesie his mother gave him for Christmas.

"I called my mom and asked if she still had it," Russell said. "Now I have a reason to wear it."

Rookie Kris Bryant has his Ninja Turtle onesie he found online in his locker stall ready for after the game. To him, this is an opportunity to break from his notion of what a pro baseball player is all about.

"For me, growing up, I always thought, 'oh, baseball players, suit and tie,' " said Bryant. "It's kind of cool to goof around a little bit and be a kid again."

While Maddon knew that Sunday night would be the perfect opportunity for a pajama jam, he did not anticipate how warm Los Angeles would be after the sun goes down.

"I really thought it was going to be cool at night," explained Maddon. "We have to make sure the bus is air conditioned as well as the plane by the time we get on it.

"I think it's great. It's going to be fun."

Right-hander Jake Arrieta, who threw the 14th no-hitter in franchise history, took the opportunity to slip into something more comfortable while addressing the post-game media: A moustache onesie.
