Japan defeats Pennsylvania to claim Little League World Series title

Japan has won the Little League World Series Championship.

After trailing the Red Land Little League team from Pennsylvania 10-2 after just one inning of play, the Japanese squad unleashed an impressive offensive onslaught led by Shingo Tomita's two-home run performance to walk away victorious 18-11.

Tomita was 3-for-4 in the contest with two RBIs and four runs scored, while teammate Masafuji Nishijima was a perfect 4-for-4 with 6 RBIs from the dish.

Japan's outstanding performance in the game's second inning featured back-to-back-to-back jacks from International Championship hero Yugo Aoki, Kengo Tomita, and Shingo Tomita.

Pennsylvania may have left it all on the field after the first-inning barrage, only managing a single run afterward as Nobuyuki Kawashima shut the door on the American champions, tossing five innings of two-run ball.

The two clubs set a LLWS record for most combined runs in a championship game with 29, breaking the previous record of 24.

Japan has won four of the last six LLWS championships, and earned its 10th title, which second-most all-time among international teams, trailing only Chinese Taipei, who have 17.
