Diamondbacks option Chacin, recall Webster to start Sunday
The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned Jhoulys Chacin to Triple-A after his solid outing against the Oakland Athletics on Saturday, sending the right-hander down to the minors in order to recall Allen Webster for Sunday's start.
Acquired from the Boston Red Sox this winter, Webster has made five appearances - including four starts - for Arizona this season, stumbling to a 6.86 ERA with a 0.81 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 21 innings. The 25-year-old right-hander has spent most of the season with Reno, where he posted a ghastly 8.37 ERA with a 1.87 WHIP over 14 starts.
Chacin, meanwhile, tossed seven innings at Chase Field on Saturday in his second start for the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs on five hits and a pair of walks while fanning six in an eventual 3-2 loss.
