Washington Nationals third baseman Yunel Escobar left Thursday's game against the San Diego Padres after being hit in the hand by a pitch.

The infielder was diagnosed with a right-hand contusion. X-rays after the game were negative, and he is listed as day-to-day.

Escobar was hit in the bottom of the fifth inning and stayed in to run the bases before being replaced by Danny Espinosa, moving Anthony Rendon to third base.

This is Escobar's fifth hand or wrist injury in 2015.

The 32-year-old was hitting .308/.365/.788 with nine home runs and 41 RBIs prior to the contest.
