The Oakland Athletics announced Tuesday that reliever Evan Scribner will miss the remainder of the year after being diagnosed with a torn lat muscle.

Scribner appeared in 54 games for the Athletics this season, pitching to a 4.35 ERA and a career-high 9.6 strikeout-per-nine rate across 60 innings. The right-hander struck out the only batter he faced in Oakland's 11-5 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday.

Scribner, 30, is under team control for the next four years and won't be arbitration-eligible until after the 2016 season.
