Chicago Cubs rookie Kyle Schwarber has been scratched from Wednesday's finale against Cincinnati because of right rib soreness.

Schwarber will undergo a precautionary MRI, though the team is hopeful the injury isn't serious.

The Cubs slugger stayed hot Tuesday, belting a go-ahead two-run homer with two outs in the seventh to lead Chicago to a come-from-behind victory over the Reds. Schwarber's 12 home runs since his promotion on July 17 are the second most in the National League during the second half.

Newly acquired outfielder Austin Jackson will receive his first start for the Cubs in place of Schwarber.
