The New York Mets have roared into a first-place tie with the Washington Nationals in the National League East, and although there's a ton of excitement about the acquisition of Yoenis Cespedes, it was two other Mets being honored by Major League Baseball on Monday.

First baseman Lucas Duda and right-hander Noah Syndergaard were named the NL Co-Players of the Week.

Duda has been absolutely clubbing the ball, with seven of his nine hits during the week going for home runs. He picked up 10 RBIs and put up a hitting line of .474/.524/1.632.

Duda has now hammered nine home runs in his last eight games.

Speaking of hammers, Syndergaard, who is nicknamed 'Thor,' had a dazzling week for the Mets. He posted a 2-0 record in 16 innings pitched, with 18 filthy strikeouts and zero walks.

The 22-year-old is a contender for NL Rookie of the Year, holding opponents to a .227 average, crafting a 1.06 WHIP, and striking out 9.5 batters per nine innings.
