Clayton Kershaw is hoping the third time's the charm.

Scratched on back-to-back days as he battled a sore hip, the left-hander will take the mound Saturday when his Los Angeles Dodgers face the Angels.

Fellow ace Zack Greinke started in place of Kershaw on Friday, as manager Don Mattingly chose to remain cautious with the three-time Cy Young winner's injury.

"He probably could've (pitched today). With the throwing program, we wanted to give him a chance to throw and feel good," Mattingly told reporters Friday.

When Kershaw takes the mound at Dodger Stadium, he'll do so with a 29 consecutive innings scoreless streak. The 27-year-old has allowed just one run over his past four outings and owns a 1.21 ERA in 10 starts since June 1.
