The New York Yankees added outfield depth ahead of Friday's non-waiver trade deadline by acquiring Dustin Ackley from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for a pair of prospects.

In return, the Mariners will receive right-hander Jose Ramirez and outfielder Ramon Flores. The clubs confirmed the trade Thursday afternoon.

Ackley, 27, is hitting a career-low .215/.270/.366 with six homers and eight doubles in 85 games. He'll provide the Yankees with a left-handed bat off the bench who's had previous success hitting opposite-sided pitching.

"Pretty crazy, I'm going to miss everyone here," said Ackley, who spent his entire five-year career in Seattle after he was made the No. 2 selection in the 2009 draft. "Things happen, I'm excited for what the future will hold."

Flores, 23, appeared in 12 games for the Yankees this season after batting .286/.377/.417 at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Venezuelan outfielder hit .219/.250/.469 in 33 plate appearances during his limited time in the majors.

Ramirez, meanwhile, has appeared in 11 games during his major-league career, three of which came this season with the Yankees. The 25-year-old right-hander pitched to a 2.90 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 49.2 innings at Triple-A this season.
