There's no crying in baseball.

That's the famous adage coined by Jimmy Dugan, the cantankerous manager of the Rockford Peaches in "A League of Their Own" (1992), when one of his outfielders broke down in tears after being chewed out for a mental error.

Wilmer Flores, who was under the impression that he had been traded by the New York Mets to the Milwaukee Brewers, never saw that movie, apparently.

Flores, a Mets employee since he was 16, grew up in the organization and was understandably emotional Wednesday night when he learned, from the fans in Queens, he had been shipped to Milwaukee one week before his 24th birthday.

As it turns out, however, Flores' tears were for naught, as Mets general manager Sandy Alderson confirmed after his club's 7-3 loss that "there is no trade."
