Tulowitzki launches moonshot, tallies 3 hits in Blue Jays debut

Troy Tulowitzki spent his entire career as an employee of the Colorado Rockies before being traded to Toronto on Tuesday. The 30-year-old noted shortly before his Blue Jays debut how it's "different" walking into a clubhouse that's "not purple."

On Wednesday evening, though, the newly acquired shortstop looked pretty darn comfortable in his new digs.

Before a delirious and highly appreciative crowd, the five-time All-Star wasted little time endearing himself to his new fan base in Toronto, blasting a mammoth two-run shot into the second deck at Rogers Centre in just his second at-bat with the Blue Jays.

Not surprisingly, Tulowitzki – who also recorded the game's first out on a Ben Revere grounder and made another dazzling defensive play in the third – prompted a chorus of "TU-LO" chants from the crowd with his downright Ruthian blast off Jerome Williams.

Before heading home for the evening, though, Tulowitzki added a pair of doubles, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored in Toronto's 8-2 victory.

Tulowitzki, incidentally, made his first ever start in the leadoff spot Wednesday against the Phillies, but proved just hours into his tenure with his new club that, as he so aptly put it, "wherever I hit, it really doesn't matter."
