New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters Tuesday that starting pitcher Michael Pineda will not be on the mound for the month of August as he recovers from a right flexor strain.
The right-hander was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with the strained forearm after being scratched for his start that day against the Texas Rangers. It was recently reported he would only miss up to 10 days.
The 26-year-old has been the Yankees' most consistent starter this season sporting a 9-7 record with a 3.97 ERA and a team-leading 117 strikeouts.
