VIDEO: Yankees' Teixeira furious after being thrown out at home against Rangers

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Up four runs on the Texas Rangers heading into the eighth inning on Monday night, Mark Teixeira got himself into scoring position for the New York Yankees as third baseman Chase Headley made his way to the plate with two outs.

Headley was able to knock a single off of Phil Klein into center field and Yankees third base coach Joe Espada yelled "easy, easy!" to Teixeira to tell him he'd make it home safely.

Rangers center fielder Leonys Martin had other ideas.

After being tagged out at home by Robinson Chirinos at home, Teixeira immediately looked in Espada's direction with frustration before letting out his anger on the garbage bins in the Yankee dugout.

"I can get hurt not expecting a play at the plate," said the oft-injured Teixeira following the game. "There's just a lot of reasons why that can't happen.

"I'm sure it won't ever happen again."

The three-time All-Star only played 15 games in 2013 with a wrist injury that lead to an eventual surgery. Last season, he hit the disabled list with a hamstring strain.

The rookie third base coach was apologetic for his error.

"I wasn't expecting a throw. It was my fault," Espada said. "I just try to take care of those guys' legs (when I can), try to avoid a slide."
