The Kansas City Royals' prized acquisition will be unveiled north of the border.

Johnny Cueto is poised to make his Royals debut Friday in Toronto against the Blue Jays. The right-hander is expected to take the place of either Chris Young or Jeremy Guthrie in the rotation, according to Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star.

The Royals acquired the impending free agent from the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday in exchange for left-handed pitching prospects Brandon Finnegan, John Lamb, and Cody Reed.

Cueto is expected to join the team Tuesday after spending his entire eight-year career with the Reds.

"It's a good time to be a Kansas City Royal," Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer said.

In 19 starts this season, Cueto is 7-6 with a 2.62 ERA and 120 strikeouts across 130 2/3 innings.
