Report: Potential No. 1 overall pick Mike Matuella to undergo Tommy John surgery

Duke right-hander Mike Matuella will undergo Tommy John surgery after tearing his ulnar collateral ligament, according to Keith Law of ESPN.
Matuella was viewed as a potential No. 1 overall pick in June's draft by some analysts. He posted a 1.08 ERA over six games and 25 innings this season.
Adding to the pile of young pitchers undergoing the surgery, last year's first overall pick, Brady Aiken, recently had Tommy John after not signing with the Houston Astros.
And contender for the No. 1 pick, Stanford ace Cal Quantrill, had the procedure earlier this month.
