Tigers' Davis fully recovered from groin strain

Detroit Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis is doing his due diligence to try to prevent the groin injury that hampered him during the end of last season from side-lining him again in 2015.

The 34-year-old missed the final game of the regular season after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 groin strain and was limited to six at-bats during the ALDS.

Davis, who bases a lot of his game around his speed, has used the offseason to recuperate from the injury, and claims he is heading into spring training without any limitations.

"I'm healthy," Davis told Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press. "I'm definitely healthy, but I'm definitely still working to where I expect to be."

It was the first time Davis had dealt with any groin-related injury in his nine-year career and admitted it was difficult to try to recover from.

"It was a tough injury," he said. "But I'm thankful I was able to learn a lot through this process and learn how to strengthen the areas I need to strengthen and to help prevent it from ever happening again."

Davis was one of the Tigers biggest surprises a season ago, as he slashed .282/.320/.401 with eight home runs and 36 stolen bases in 134 games. He took over in center field after the team opted to trade Austin Jackson to the Seattle Mariners, though he's expected to platoon with Anthony Gose this season.
