Report: Brandon Beachy finalizing contract with mystery team
Free-agent pitcher Brandon Beachy could be coming off the market very shortly.
The right-hander has zeroed in on a team to sign with and is just working out contractual details, reports Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities.
Wolfson doesn't elaborate on who he thinks the mystery team is, but believes it is not the Minnesota Twins.
Beachy's former team - the Atlanta Braves - and the Texas Rangers have shown interest in him at various points this offseason, but both teams are considered to now be out of the running.
Beachy, who owns a 14-11 record with a 3.23 ERA over his first four big-league seasons, is still recovering from his second Tommy John surgery, but could be a nice gamble for a team seeking pitching depth.
The 28-year-old was non-tendered by the Braves in early December, making him a free agent.
