The Kansas City Royals signed right-hander Jason Frasor to a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2016, the team announced Friday.

The Royals acquired Frasor from the Texas Rangers in July for pitcher Spencer Patton.

The veteran pitched exceptionally well after joining Kansas City's bullpen, going 3-0 with a 1.53 ERA in 17.2 regular-season innings. He posted equally impressive numbers in the playoffs, posting a 2-0 mark with a 1.69 ERA.

The 37-year-old has also spent time in the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox organizations since breaking into the league in 2004.
