Report: Marlins have discussed trading for Diamondbacks' Wade Miley

Matt Kartozian / USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Marlins made Giancarlo Stanton the highest-paid player in professional sports last week, and are now focusing on upgrading their rotation ahead of the 2015 season.

The Marlins have discussed trading right-hander Nathan Eovaldi or a pitching prospect to the Arizona Diamondbacks for lefty Wade Miley, reports Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Eovaldi is projected to earn $3.1 million through the arbitration process this offseason, while Miley is first-year arbitration eligible and should cash in roughly $4.3 million.

Miley is 38-35 with a 3.79 ERA in 106 career appearances, but went only 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA last season for the lowly D-backs.

Miami is also interested in free-agent hurlers Francisco Liriano and Brandon Morrow.
