Report: Blue Jays no longer in the mix for Sandoval
It now appears to be a three-horse race for the services of free agent Pablo Sandoval.
The Toronto Blue Jays are no longer in the mix for Sandoval, reports Rogers Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith.
The team has not had any communication with Sandoval's agent, Gustavo Vasquez, in the last 48 hours and general manager Alex Anthopoulos reiterated Thursday during an introductory press conference for Russell Martin he wasn't close to signing anyone else.
The Boston Red Sox, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants are all vying for the third baseman, who is likely to get a five-year deal in the $95 million range.
Sandoval rejected a $15.3 million qualifying offer from the Giants after leading them to a third World Series title in the past five years.
