Report: Mets targeting left-handed reliever

Greg M. Cooper / USA TODAY Sports

The New York Mets have reportedly made signing a left-handed reliever their top priority and hope to do so by the time the Winter Meetings conclude in less than three weeks, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post

Puma notes that the Mets aren't entering the Andrew Miller sweepstakes. Instead, they are focusing their attention on second-tier options such as Craig Breslow, Joe Beimel and Phil Coke. A reunion with Dana Eveland is also a possibility.

2013 and 2014 season combined:

Pitcher IP ERA WHIP SO-BB
Breslow 114 3.79 1.47 70-46
Beimel 45 2.20 1.17 25-14
Coke 96.1 4.48 1.58 71-41
Eveland 27.1 2.63 1.09 27-6

Currently, New York has Josh Edgin as the lone lefty in the pen.
