Orioles exercise options on Chen, O'Day

The Baltimore Orioles exercised the contract options on a pair of prominent arms on Thursday.
Chen, whose option is valued at $4.75 million, had a career year with the Orioles in 2014. The left-hander posted a 16-6 record while finishing with a 3.54 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. Chen also made three postseason starts for the Orioles, allowing eight runs in 15 1/3 innings.
Like Chen, Darren O'Day had a career year with the Orioles and was a key contributor to one of the league's best bullpens. The 32-year-old finished the season with a 1.70 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 68 2/3 innings while collecting 73 strikeouts. O'Day's option is worth $4.24 million.
