Andrew Friedman certainly left for greener pastures when he departed the low-budget Tampa Bay Rays for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Friedman, the Dodgers' new president of baseball operations, inked a record-setting five-year, $35-million deal with Los Angeles. Olney says the deal includes incentives.
Friedman previously served as the Rays' general manager, a position he secured as a 28-year-old after the 2005 season.
The Dodgers had baseball's largest Opening Day payroll at $241 million, according to USA Today, while the Rays ranked 25th out of 30 teams at $82 million.
