Oakland Athletics outfielder/first baseman Brandon Moss underwent successful hip surgery that will have the 31-year-old on crutches for the next four weeks, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle

Moss, who is expected to begin running in three months and should be ready for spring training, earned his first All-Star appearance in 2014 but struggled over the second half of the season.

After hitting .268/.349/.530 with 21 home runs and 66 RBIs through 89 games, torn cartilage in his hip limited Moss to four home runs and 15 RBIs over his next 58 games, while hitting .173/.310/.274.
