Kansas City Royals infielder Jayson Nix is replacing Christian Colon on the club's World Series roster, according to Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star.

The Royals will otherwise keep the same 25-man roster they used in the AL Championship Series, McCullough reports.

Neither player was expected to play a significant role in the series, although the Royals appear to favor Nix's experience.

Colon, a 25-year-old rookie, was instrumental in Kansas City's wild-card win over the Oakland Athletics, singling in the 12th, before stealing second and scoring the game's winning run.

Nix, who struck out in his only postseason plate appearance during that same game, has played for eight different teams over seven seasons in the majors. He owns a .222/.300/.333 batting line across seven career playoff games.

While Colon saw most of his playing time this season at second, Nix brings with him over 80 games of experience at shortstop, second and third base.

Nix, 32, was claimed off waivers by the Royals on Aug. 28 after hitting .111 over 36 at-bats for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He started the year in the Tampa Bay Rays organization before brief stops with the Philadelphia Phillies and Pirates.
