With the designated hitter in play, the San Francisco Giants will have more lineup depth than usual when the World Series kicks off Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium, reports ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Michael Morse is expected to make his first start of the playoffs Tuesday after being consigned to pinch-hitting duties for the entirety of the National League Championship Series. The burly veteran received just four plate appearances in the NLCS, but made the most of his opportunities, crushing a game-tying, pinch-hit solo shot in the eighth inning of Game 5, which the Giants eventually won 6-3.

Travis Ishikawa, meanwhile, will make his sixth consecutive start in left field for Tuesday's series opener, after enjoying considerable success at the plate throughout the NLCS. The 31-year-old hit .385/.429/.769 over five games against the St. Louis Cardinals, including an unforgettable walk-off home run in Game 5 that lifted the Giants to their third pennant in the last five seasons.
