Tigers' Rajai Davis, Anibal Sanchez included on ALDS roster

The Detroit Tigers have elected to carry injured outfielder Rajai Davis on their American League Division Series roster.

Davis suffered a Grade 1 groin sprain during the final weekend of the season, and his status remains unclear ahead of Thursday's Game 1 against the Baltimore Orioles.

The speedy 33-year-old assumed an everyday role in the Tigers outfield this season following the trade of Austin Jackson, posting his highest hitting line (.282/.320.401) since 2010. If Davis is not cleared to play Thursday, Ezequiel Carrera is expected to occupy center field.

Another injured player who could help the Tigers in their opening round matchup is Anibal Sanchez.

The right-hander was activated from the disabled list in the final couple weeks of the season after missing over a month with a right pectoral strain. Sanchez, who was a key part of the Tigers' rotation during their recent playoff runs, made one appearance out of the bullpen prior to the end of the year.

Detroit announced it will go with a four-man rotation for the ALDS, including Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, David Price and Rick Porcello.
