Updated World Series odds: Dodgers still the favorites

Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

With both wild card play-in games complete and the postseason field narrowed to eight, the updated World Series odds have been rolled out.

Not much has changed up top, where the four teams are tightly clustered. The Dodgers have been given a slight edge, thanks to arguably the best 1-2 pitching duo of any playoff participant. But the Nationals, with their balanced roster, the Angels, with their high-powered offense, and the Tigers, with their everything minus a bullpen, are not far behind.

After that it's a bit of a drop-off to the Baltimore Orioles, probably a reflection of the O's untested and fairly suspect pitching staff, which has been outperforming its peripherals all season. Meanwhile, the St. Louis Cardinals aren't getting much love from the oddsmakers. Despite having made three-straight NLCS appearances and winning two of the past three NL pennants, the Cards have the lowest odds of any division winner.

Wild card winners the Royals and Giants round out the field.

On the eve of the League Division Series', here are the latest odds for each playoff team, via Bodog:

Team World Series odds
Los Angeles Dodgers 4/1
Washington Nationals 9/2
Los Angeles Angels 19/4
Detroit Tigers 5/1
Baltimore Orioles 13/2
St. Louis Cardinals 15/2
Kansas City Royals 10/1
San Francisco Giants 10/1
