Giants' Morse unlikely to crack wild-card roster

Ed Szczepanski / USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco Giants have some tough decisions to make regarding the roster they will carry for Wednesday's wild-card game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Whether or not to add ailing slugger Michael Morse (oblique) to the roster is one of them, and it appears the club will take on the Pirates without him.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Tuesday that Morse is doubtful for the elimination game. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle said that Travis Ishikawa is a definite to play left field, a position Morse has received the majority of his at-bats out of this season.

The oblique injury has limited Morse to just two at-bats in September after he hit .299/.378/.468 in 25 games in August. Morse batted .279 with 16 homers and an .811 OPS over 131 games in his first year with the Giants.
