1969 - The Say Hey Kid joins the Babe in 600-homer club
San Francisco Giants icon Willie Mays clobbers a pinch-hit home run off rookie right-hander Mike Corkins, becoming the second player in baseball history - after the legendary Babe Ruth - to reach 600 career homers.

The exclusive club welcomed six new members in the 45 years since Mays recorded his 600th round-tripper, as Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Ken Griffey Jr., Alex Rodriguez and Jim Thome (2011) each reached the illustrious plateau in recent seasons.
1987 - Wade Boggs record fifth straight 200-hit season
Boston Red Sox third baseman Wade Boggs cranks a solo shot off Walt Terrell for his 200th hit of the campaign, reaching the vaunted plateau for a fifth consecutive season.
Boggs, who earned his third of 12 career All-Star nominations in 1987, would reach the 200-hit plateau in each of the next two seasons but would play the final 10 years of his career without accomplishing the feat.
Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005, Boggs' seven 200-hit campaigns trail only Ichiro Suzuki (10), Pete Rose (10), Derek Jeter (8), Paul Waner (8), and Lou Gehrig (8) for the live-ball era record.
