MRI reveals neck inflammation for Twins' Milone

Minnesota Twins left-hander Tommy Milone has been diagnosed with inflammation in his neck, following an MRI on Monday, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports

Milone was scheduled to start against the Tigers on Monday but was scratched from the outing after feeling neck stiffness during an aborted bullpen session on Saturday. Having previously dealt with shoulder fatigue, he hasn't pitched since Sept. 2.

Because the MRI showed no structural damage, the Twins feel there's a chance he'll be back on the mound before season's end.

"(Milone) has a stiff neck and inflammation, so we're going to treat that and try to get him healthy and see where it goes," said general manager Terry Ryan. "There's a possibility (he'll pitch again this season)."

Milone has struggled mightily with the Twins since coming over from the A's in a trade, getting touched up for 36 hits and four home runs in just 20 2/3 innings and posting a 7.40 ERA.
