Pirates place Wandy Rodriguez on DL with knee inflammation

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed pitcher Wandy Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list Monday with inflammation in his right knee.

The left-hander lasted four innings in his Saturday outing and gave up four earned runs on six hits with 66 pitches. He was scheduled to pitch Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds.

MLB.com reporter Tom Singer noted Rodriguez, 35, topped out at 89 mph in his Saturday start. He has a 7.65 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP in his 20 innings this season.

In a corresponding move, the Bucs called-up reliever Jared Hughes from Triple-A Indianapolis.
