Mets sign Kyle Farnsworth to minor-league deal

Farnsworth, 38 in April, may pitch forever. He spent 2013 with the Rays and Pirates, and had a 125 ERA- in 38 1/3 innings. His 6.57 strikeout rate was his lowest since his rookie year in 1999, thanks in part to his fastball losing gas, clocking in at 92.6 MPH on average. Time catches up to all of us.
Farnsworth has a career 99 ERA- in 960 big-league innings over 15 seasons. The Mets will be his eighth team. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
