The Astros reportedly augmented their inexperienced starting rotation on Monday, agreeing to deal with veteran right-hander Jerome Williams, pending a physical, according to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish.

Williams, who was non-tendered by the Angels in December, vacillated between the rotation and bullpen in 2013, but affirmed earlier this offseason his desire to land a starting job in 2014.

The 32-year-old righty authored a 4.57 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP over 25 starts and 12 relief appearances last season, averaging 5.7 strikeouts per nine innings.
