The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Haudricort brings us the latest in The Matt Garza Saga. There's good news and bad news:

"The bad news for Brewers fans as of the end of the work day Friday is that there was no deal completed with free agent right-hander Matt Garza.

"The good news was that the sides are still talking."

It's been almost 24 hours since the Brewers tweeted that, contrary to reports, no deal had been reached with Garza. A long 24 hours, if you're a Brewers fan. Or Matt Garza.

Haudricort did what any journalist would do. He text messaged Brewers general manager Doug Melvin asking if there were any developments. Melvin responded, "Not yet."

Haudricort has more on what the holdup might be:

"It was unclear what the hang-up was in completing the deal. All multi-year deals are fully guaranteed, but Garza has a checkered medical past and the Brewers might have been seeking some language that protects them should Garza miss considerable time.

"Assuming there are no medical issues, and a source Thursday said there were none, it has to be the details of language in the contract that stalled an agreement -- assuming there will be one. Talks could always break off without an agreement."

MLB.com's Adam McCalvy writes that Garza's agent "declined to comment" about the situation.

And so we wait. Stay strong, Brewers friends.
