It appears the Milwaukee Brewers will add another veteran to compete with Mark Reynolds for the team's first base job.

After being released from the Red Sox during spring training to start last season, Overbay was picked up by the Yankees and played a productive role on their injury depleted roster.

In 140 games, Overbay batted .240/.295/.393 with 14 home runs and 59 RBI. It was the first time the 36-year-old played over 140 games since 2010.

The signing reunites the left-handed hitter with team he gained prominence with in 2004-05. In two seasons, Overbay hit .289/.376/.464 with 35 home runs and 159 before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays.

Milwaukee signed Reynolds to a minor league contract earlier in the week.
