The next chapter in the volatile career of left-hander Dontrelle Willis will reportedly take place in San Francisco, as the Giants appear to be on the verge of a minor-league deal with the 31-year-old southpaw, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The 2003 Rookie of the Year enjoyed four sterling seasons with the Marlins at the outset of his career, but control problems and anxiety issues plagued him as his career progressed, and the left-hander threw just 199 combined innings from 2008 to 2011 across brief stints with several clubs.

Willis, who last appeared in the majors with the Reds in 2011, owns a 6.15 ERA with a 1.81 WHIP over his last 43 appearances, averaging a whopping 7.1 walks per nine innings.
