The Rangers inked veteran farmhand Daniel McCutchen to a minor-league deal on Thursday, and the 31-year-old right-hander was understandably elated.

A thirteenth-round pick in the 2006 draft, McCutchen has spent the vast majority of the last seven seasons in the minor leagues, logging just 108 games at the big-league level throughout his career.  McCutchen incurred a 50-game suspension in 2013 after testing positive for a banned substance.

Though he hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2012, McCutchen appeared in 73 games with the Pirates in 2011, fashioning a 3.72 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP over 84.2 innings.
