The Cubs reportedly agreed to a minor-league deal on Wednesday with left-hander Jonathan Sanchez, who joins his fourth organization in the last two years, reports Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune.
Sanchez, who turned 31 last month, has logged just 78.1 innings at the big-league level over the last two years, posting an unsightly 8.73 ERA while dealing with serious control problems. The southpaw has averaged seven walks per nine innings since 2012, resulting in an ugly 2.15 WHIP.
Sullivan notes that the left-hander's deal reportedly includes incentives if he cracks the big-league roster.
