Report: Indians sign P Marcum to minor-league deal

Veteran right-hander Shaun Marcum, who was limited to just 14 games last season due to a shoulder injury, will reportedly attempt to rebuild his value with the Indians in 2014, agreeing to a minor-league deal with the club on Monday, reports Fox Sports' Jon Morosi.

The 32-year-old posted a 5.29 ERA over 78.1 innings last year before getting diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome in July, a development that effectively ended his season.  Marcum underwent surgery on July 17 to rectify the condition that involves nearly constant pain throughout the hand and arm, and has affected other prominent major leaguers including Chris Carpenter and Josh Beckett.

Marcum, who owns a career 3.88 ERA/4.20 FIP over 995 innings, is expected to be ready for spring training.
