Report: Phillies to sign OF Marlon Byrd
After a career resurgence last season splitting time between the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates, outfielder Marlon Byrd is reportedly close to signing with both teams rival.
The Mike and Ike Show on 94WIP Philly say that Philadelphia is close to signing the 36-year-old to a two-year deal.
Byrd hit .291/.336/.511 in 147 games last season. He hit a career high 24 home runs while driving in 88. The utility outfielder was acquired in late August for the Pirates playoff run.
