Rangers reacquire Grossman from White Sox
The Chicago White Sox traded outfielder Robbie Grossman to the Texas Rangers for right-hander Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa, both clubs announced Wednesday.
Grossman returns to the Rangers after helping the club win the World Series last season.
The 34-year-old has just four RBIs with a .597 OPS across 25 games with the White Sox in 2024. He hit 10 homers with 49 RBIs and a .734 OPS over 115 contests for the Rangers in 2023.
The switch-hitter also posted a .953 OPS against left-handers in 60 games last year.
Grossman's best campaign came in 2021 when he slashed .239/.357/.415 with 23 round-trippers, 67 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases over 156 games for the Detroit Tigers. The 12-year veteran has also suited up for the Houston Astros, Minnesota Twins, Oakland Athletics, and Atlanta Braves.
Hoopii-Tuionetoa, 23, owns a 0.73 ERA with 11.7 K/9 over 10 appearances as a reliever in Double-A this season.
Texas also designated left-hander Kolton Ingram for assignment to make room for Grossman on the active roster.
