The Atlanta Braves placed All-Star second baseman Ozzie Albies on the 10-day injured list with a fractured right big toe, the club announced Tuesday.

Braves manager Brian Snitker didn't give a timetable for Albies return but ruled out the possibility of surgery, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com.

Albies suffered the injury when he was hit in the foot by a pitch in the second inning of Monday's game against the Houston Astros. He finished the game but was limping and dealing with soreness afterward, according to David O'Brien of The Athletic.

"It's a freak injury, but there is nothing I can do about it," Albies said Tuesday, according to Bally Sports: Braves. "Make sure I heal fast and be ready to go when I feel better."

The 27-year-old was off to a great start this season, hitting .317/.386/.492 with two homers, 14 RBIs, and 14 runs scored through his first 15 games.

Atlanta selected infielder David Fletcher from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move.
