Here are the 2024 fantasy starting pitcher rankings for standard 5x5 leagues.

Note: Rankings were updated after Gerrit Cole suffered an elbow injury that will keep him out 10-12 weeks.

Why Strider's No. 1: Strider tops our list after a terrific campaign in which he led the league in some of the most important fantasy categories for a pitcher, like wins and strikeouts. He also made 30-plus starts the past two seasons and posted a ridiculous 2.85 FIP in 2023. However, his ERA (which most leagues take into account instead of FIP) was 3.86 last year.

Player worth reaching for: Snell still doesn't have a team and may get off to a slow start if he needs extra prep time before the season begins. Nonetheless, he's a two-time Cy Young winner and strikeout specialist, so he's worth a reach. Snell will pile up walks, which is something else to consider before drafting him.

Dark-horse pick: Ryan Pepiot has limited experience, but the 26-year-old will get a chance to prove himself in a depleted Tampa Bay Rays rotation this season. Pepiot, who the Los Angeles Dodgers traded to Tampa Bay in December, has high strikeout potential and owns a 2.76 ERA over 78 1/3 major-league innings.
