Mike Trout isn't just good at baseball and infatuated with how the weather works, but the Los Angeles Angels outfielder appears to also make helpful suggestions when it comes to how the game he plays should run.

During a chat with a veteran umpire earlier this spring, the two-time MVP suggested officials only run through five or six innings during spring training, and turn over the last innings to umps normally slated to work in minor-league games only, reports ESPN's Buster Olney.

Trout's suggestion was apparently conveyed to baseball officials who loved the idea, as it would allow these umpires to gain valuable experience, while also offering baseball officials more chances to see how these umpires would perform at a higher level.

"It makes a lot of sense for a lot of different reasons," one official told Olney.

The suggestion would also help umpires at lower levels potentially move up the ranks, as it's currently difficult for them to do so, with the attrition rate of big-league umps being minimal.
