Cubs' Maddon: LeBron can play for us anytime

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Before Dwyane Wade's beloved Chicago Cubs defeated LeBron James' Cleveland Indians in the World Series, the two agreed that the fan of the losing team would don the winning team's jersey.

James kept his end of the bargain, showing up in full Cubs gear before the Cleveland Cavaliers' matchup against Wade's Chicago Bulls, and that joke has turned into a job offer from Cubs manager Joe Maddon.

"He looked great," Maddon told TMZ Sports. "He can play center field for us anytime."

James' all-around athleticism would be extremely useful in center field for the Cubs, and the team could use additional depth at the position with Dexter Fowler on the market.

His focus will likely remain on the court, however, as he and his Cavaliers try to repeat as NBA champions.
