Yoan Moncada's first stint in the major leagues has officially come to an end.

The Boston Red Sox announced Thursday the third base prospect was flown to Florida to begin preparing for the Arizona Fall League, which begins Oct. 11.

Moncada's major-league debut didn't go as planned for the 21-year-old. Moncada slashed .211/.250/.263 while appearing in eight games since his debut Sept. 2. After racking up strikeouts, however, manager John Farrell opted to bench the rookie, using him only in rare pinch-hit appearances.

He finished the season with 12 strikeouts in 19 at-bats.
